Ah, that brings back memories. A remixed version of this appeared on the Burnout Paradise soundtrack, the remix previously appearing on their remix compilation 'Remixes 81-04'.

Amen. Depeche Mode is top tier. I'll definitely try to make my song postings a daily thing on oppo, probably around 12:00PM EST. And I might break Kinja trying to post all my songs, lol.

Why don't you make a simple playlist on some tool (I don't know of any, heck maybe even a youtube playlist) and list out the songs here? Idk. Just thinking out loud.

What is your favorite song from D.M.? I tend to enjoy remakes of them as well, which most people who like them absolutely hate.

Honestly I'm not sure if I can pin down a favorite Depeche song. Enjoy the Silence and People are People introduced me to them and I searched out their other songs afterward. Behind the Wheel, (the original version of Route 66) is probably my favorite. World in my Eyes is a good one too. Also I'll attempt to post my "master list" in the next comment. Brace yourself, I might nuke kinja.

Looks like I have some homework to do. Thanks for the list, I love new music.

Are you into older rock as well? Pink Floyd, for example?
If so I can recommend checking out Alan Parsons Project, Porcupine Tree.. And I do also enjoy some soft modern music. Its not techno, its not dubstep. Some people call it elevator music, ala Dj Shadow, Blockhead, Glitch Mob.

I can understand that. I have not heard Behind the wheel, as well as many of the songs you listed. I must listen to them. Did you grow up around this music or was it your personal taste? I am always interested to know what led people to like something

I didn't grow up with this music unfortunately, I gained interest in it after my family and friends kept playing this type of music at our garage parties haha. I then embraced it and have become an aficionado with New wave and classic hits. I pretty much gain new songs everyday. I'm also into older rock to some extent, soft rock, mostly like Genesis, Steve Miller and The Doobie Brothers.

Good conversing with you also, and yeah, oppo is a great place. I don't post on oppo much, but with my racing career starting and with songs to share I'll be on here more often.

Well I just started in the karting stage, I'll be doing my first full season this year. My goal is simple-open wheel racing. Oh hell, I'll just say it outright even though you'll probably laugh at it lol. Formula 1. I'm still at the age where it is still viable and possible to get your foot in. Starting old is a disadvantage though. I'm well aware of the requirements for F1, but I'm absolutely dedicated to it. Maybe that will be enough.

Laugh? That is probably the most admirable thing I've heard regarding someone's future. Besides, I've always dreamed of being a rally race driver. Perhaps not for the WRC, but to some extent. I know that is not possible tho, so I am perusing the next closest thing which is professional auto-x after which I want to move to tracks, and hopefully do some series or championships. My goal is to either own a team in a few years, or be a part of one. If it is the latter, I want to be in some or of cup, like the Daytona cup, or GT3. But much like sports, one has to have a natural talent. And since I am already 23 I am not sure how competitive or good I will ever become.

Glad to see someone else on oppo with motorsport aspirations. I'd say your age is still good if you want to pursue a sports car racing career. I don't the ladder system in sports car racing very well. I know the Open-wheel racing like the back of my hand though. Have you thought about a racing school such as Skip Barber?

Kinja'd!!! Lekker > MisterHotshot
02/20/2014 at 12:02

Kinja'd!!!0

Yes actually. I was planning on getting a racing license/racing school for my birthday this year. The problem is there are none around me, and by that I mean my hometown or where I live now (AZ as opposed to KS). But I am already a part of the SCCA club, as well as my local scca club and already attend auto-x events. This is only my second season, but last season I only did 3 events or so. In all honesty, I can think of nothing I want more than to drive hours on end, in a car that was built to take the torture along with corner after corner. I dream of it. I even told my wife, when she finishes med school I plan to quit my day job (right..) and attempt to race full time. So I have around 8 years to get to that point, since before then it would only be an outlandish dream to afford.

How about you? How long have you been in the opem-wheel racing scene? How long did it take you to be noticed? Are you in a team or just your own?

Well as I said I'm still in karting right now. Just started late last year. I'll hopefully be running WKA events along the east coast from my home area of Northern Virginia. Haven't been noticed so to speak yet, but for the 2 races I've done so far I've received praise from many old timers. Right now it's just me and my dad, with said old timers helping us out. If I do well enough in karting the next few years, I can hopefully be picked up by the Team USA scholarship for Formula Ford. And I feel the same way. I eat, sleep and live for racing.
